You're A Teacher

The Volunteer Connection is one of the largest volunteer organizations serving learners in the South Hennepin County, Minnesota area. Our volunteers help adult learners and E-12 students reach their educational goals.

The Volunteer Connection provides a wide variety of volunteer opportunities in many diverse settings, along with training and continuous support for our volunteers.  We can fit almost anyone's schedule.

 


Volunteer with Young Learners (E-12)
  • Serving Bloomington public schools & programs.
  • Tutor afternoons or evenings in the Homework Connection.
  • Tutor children in reading, writing, math, computers and other academic areas.
  • Tutor children in English as a Second Language (knowledge of a foreign language is not required).
  • Assist classroom teachers with student learning.
  • Mentor a student by being a supportive advocate who collaborates and assists the student by helping with school projects, listening, reading, playing games, helping with problem solving and by being a positive role model.

Volunteer with Adult Learners

  • Serving Bloomington, Richfield, Eden Prairie and Edina.
  • Tutor adults in reading, writing, math and computers.
  • Tutor adults in English as a Second Language (ESL) (knowledge of a foreign language is not required).
  • Lead classes of special interest (i.e. job skills or conversation)
  • Bring the love of reading to an ESL family.
  • Assist adults with disabilities in customized education classes.
